Ladies and gentlemen: this is the official announcement of the Project Swapfig Kickstarter project. It’s been two weeks of very hard work in the making, but it’s finally here.
For those who’ve been deliberately ignoring me for the last few months: Project Swapfig is another site I’ve been working on, this time for trading LEGO minifigures. The very first post on it, back in September 2012, explains the reason for it as well as some of the things it sets out to accomplish.
The site is coming along nicely, although I’ve had to take some time out for producing the Kickstarter video and other things, and I decided to launch the site on May 1st 2013.
Why May 1st 2013? Because that’s the rumoured release date of S10 (although there have already been sightings in Hungary). In any case, it’s going to be a race against the clock to release Project Swapfig in a stable state, as well as managing everything else.
Although the site can and will be launched without funding, I’ve started a Kickstarter project to help raise money for advertising, as well as running and maintenance costs. This is about giving Project Swapfig the best possible start and making it the “fig’s hips”. (Okay, that was terrible.)
To be honest, I really have no idea how this Kickstarter project is going to go, but I won’t jinx it. I’ve set myself a still ambitious but relatively low target amount (compared to some other live projects) to be reached in just 20 days, which will give enough time to prepare for the site launch. Come and support the Kickstarter project by going to the project page, getting your wallet out and making a contribution – as little or as much as you want.
If you really don’t have any money to spare, you can still help by spreading the word about Project Swapfig, online and offline. Word of mouth would be great; I’ve even included a promotional logo (below), for you to download, resize etc., if you have a weblog or some other platform.
If you have any questions or suggestions about Project Swapfig, leave a comment (either here or on the project page) or otherwise get in touch.
